Finance & Admin Associate

Part-time (20 hrs/week) for three months probation time, then full-time (40 hrs/week).

The company

Bahana-Communication for Change (BC4C) is a social enterprise that helps reformists become better persuaders. In our work, we combine rigor and creativity in social change communication.

We never hire people to be our little assistants. We prime them to replace their bosses and eventually become equity partners.

We hire based on capability, not credentials. Whether you graduated from SMK, D1, D2, D3, or S1, what matters is your competence, willingness to learn, and ability to enrich our team culture.

Communication for Change is founded by minorities and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to age, race, religion, disability, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, and genetics

Role overview

The Finance & Admin Associate supports BC4C's operational and financial health. This is a fully remote role, starting part-time for a three-month probation period and moving to full-time upon successful completion. You will be responsible for day-to-day bookkeeping, administrative coordination, and financial documentation, ensuring that our internal processes are accurate, organized, and audit-ready.

This role is ideal for someone building a foundation in finance and operations, who values precision and takes ownership of their work.

Responsibilities

Bookkeeping & financial recording
  • Record routine operational expenses: salaries, taxes, software subscriptions, bank interest, and deposits
  • Manage project-based bookkeeping: revenue tracking, cost of services, and project operational expenses
  • Process advance payments, prepaid transactions, and deferred expenses
  • Prepare and process credit and debit memos, and make journal adjustments or reclassification entries as needed
  • Reconcile expense reports from Mekari Expenses, including verification of supporting documents

Invoicing & revenue administration
  • Create and number invoices according to internal conventions
  • Track invoice flow and support revenue recognition records
  • Compile and verify supporting documents for each invoice

Employee administration
  • Administer employee reimbursements and cash advance requests
  • Maintain leave documentation and handover records
  • Support onboarding documentation for contractors and team members

Document archiving & compliance
  • Organize and maintain the finance folder structure in Google Drive following internal conventions
  • Archive transaction evidence, contracts, and important documents in an audit-ready format
  • Apply consistent file naming conventions across all financial records

Operational & event support
  • Track and reconcile expenses for workshops and training events
  • Coordinate with vendors and verify supporting documents for event expenses
  • Assist in logistics coordination and operational checklists for events as needed

Qualification and requirements

We're looking for someone with a solid foundation or genuine eagerness to build one in finance and administration. More important than credentials is your willingness to learn, your discipline, and your care for accuracy.

  • Basic accounting knowledge: understands debit/credit, chart of accounts, and financial accountability
  • Comfortable with Google Workspace: Drive, Docs, Sheets, and email
  • Strong written communication skills in Indonesian; working English is a plus
  • Detail-oriented and organized: you notice when something is off, and you follow up
  • Self-disciplined remote worker: you manage your own time, meet deadlines, and don't wait to be chased
  • Experience with bookkeeping tools (e.g. Mekari/Jurnal) is an advantage, but not required — we will train you

Behaviour and value we look for

In BC4C, people who are rewarded and promoted are those who

  • Consistently refuse to do mediocre jobs: we want team members who put serious effort into their work and tie in their professional pride with the quality of their output. We hire those who want to disprove the myths of unprofessional Indonesians.
  • Are respectful to others: we respect others’ time. We are punctual and come to meetings prepared. In meetings, including virtual ones, we don’t multitask so we can pay full attention and listen carefully to others. Lastly, we don’t believe brilliant jerks exist: nobody can be so brilliant she or he can get away with treating others rudely.
  • Make things happen, not wait for things to happen: we promote people who take initiatives. We anticipate and prevent, instead of reacting and fixing.
  • Are intellectually hungry and humble: we never stop learning about topics that are related to work and ones that give us personal satisfaction. We publicly admit when we don’t know and deliver on the promise that we’ll find out as soon as possible.

Work conditions

  • We operate in full remote mode from Day 1, and your homebase should be located in Jabodetabek.
  • You are expected to provide your own reliable computer/laptop and internet connection for remote work.
  • We minimize meetings by maximize written communications in asynchronous context
  • We open our financial data to everyone in the team, and this includes each other’s salary
  • Our structure is flat with almost no hierarchy, as our company is small; this may make us unsuitable for those who seek to climb up the corporate ladder.

Remuneration and other benefits

  • Monthly salary range: Rp 3,500,000 – Rp 4,000,000 during probation; Rp 7,000,000 – Rp 8,000,000 once full-time. Your exact salary will be determined after the job interview.
  • All numbers are after-tax, but you have to pay your part for BPJS Ketenagakerjaan. BPJS Kesehatan included.
  • We provide comprehensive health benefits, including BPJS Kesehatan, BPJS Ketenagakerjaan, in-patient medical coverage, and an additional annual medical reimbursement of up to 25% of your monthly salary.
  • You have a training allowance with the freedom to choose the programs you want to enroll in.
  • Rather than tracking a fixed annual leave quota, we offer flexibility in how you manage your schedule. As long as your 20-hour weekly commitment and deliverables are met, you may arrange your working days and time off with at least two weeks' prior communication to your supervisor.
  • There is a track to become equity-partners for employees who consistently perform, deliver business results, and stick around with us after certain years.
